Gonojagaran Mancha calls 6-hr hartal in Sylhet

The Gonojagaran Mancha has called a six-hour hartal in Sylhet division tomorrow, protesting the murder of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das.

The hartal will be observed from 6:00am, said Mancha’s local unit chief Debashish Debu in a press conference at Sylhet Osmani Medical College this morning.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajot, Jubo Mohajot and Chhatra Mohajot have expressed solidarity with the hartal programme.

Earlier today, blogger and an organiser of local Gonojagaran Mancha, Ananta Bijoy Das, was killed in Sylhet in continuation of attacks on free thinkers of the society.

Ananta Bijoy was killed in Subid Bazar area in Sylhet around 9:00am this morning, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Kamrul Hasan told The Daily Star.
