Abdullah Al Mamun was an actor as well as a playwright. As an actor he has not taken wages in many plays. He has even created history as a playwright. He has thought a lot to make a successful play. But due to get good amount of wages many of his scripts have telecasted by others' name.

If we look at the list of the dramas of first 25 years after the country got independence then any older viewers can imagine that only from television studio so many tremendous dramas can be made instead of going to Switzerland or America.

The drama titled “Parle Na Rumki” written by Afzal Hossain is still remembered by the audiences. As for drama serials any popular series can be jealous of Humayun Ahmed's “Ayomoy”, “Bohibrihi”, “Eishob Din Raatri” or “Kothao Keu Nei”. But the drama “Shokal Shondha” has played a big role in making those drama serials so popular.

Nowadays in several channels are using the words such as mega serials and squeals. But the initiation of these type of dramas has been initiated in Dhaka Television. The serial "Ekjon Babor Ali'r Kotha" was based on a character named Babar ali. After that both the sequeals "Abar Babar Ali" and "Babor Ali" was produced in the Dhaka Television. Abdullah Al Mamun has played the role of Babor Ali which has been produced by Musa Ahmed. Moreover, the first volume based drama has been written by Imdadul Haque Milon titled “Joto Dure Jai” and it has been produced in Dhaka Television. The second volume based drama has been written by Mamunur Rashid and it was titled as “Shuprovaat Dhaka”.

Abdullah Al Mamun was the man behing making this amazing world of drama in television. He planned many things while doing job of not only the producer but also the drama section.

Due to his contribution there are so many versatilities in every television drama. He used to listen to the stories of the dramas which were going to be telecasted during the further weeks while having tight duty. He also used to give advises regarding making drama.

Abdullah Al Mamun was not only involved in cinema world but also in theatre besides television screen. He was one of the initiators who have created a revolution in the stage activities right after the liberation war. He was one of the leaders of Theatre Nattogoshthi. He had been writing dramas and acting for 35 years on behalf of this group.

Abdullah Al Mamun is a very important person in our drama world besides television world. He has even directed several films in cinema world. He is the creator of legendary film “Shareng Bou”. Many of us do not know that he has written several stories and songs for our film industry. The story and script of the film “Oshikkhito” has been written by Abdullah Al Mamun.

Among three daughters and one son this star producer has tried a lot to keep his son and one daughter Diba Nargis involved in television and theatre activities. But he believed that the family he has created in the television and theatre can keep his standard with their potentiality.
