Bangladeshi artist Laila Sharmeen's work travels to Tokyo Art Fair
Bangladeshi artist Laila Sharmeen is all set to exhibit her works on mixed media at the first Tokyo International Art Fair, to be held at Harajuku Quest Hall on May 22 and 23, says a press release.
Some 150 artists and distinguished galleries from different parts of the world including UK, Scandinavia, Netherlands, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, China, India, Russia, Africa, the USA and Australia will be out in force at the art extravaganza.
Laila's works are a mixture of political commentary, social engagement and contemporary aesthetics. She is keenly conscious of the unusual social changes of modern times. She strives to capture the hollowness of modern civilization, the clash of civilisation, apartheid, religious bigotry materialisation and alienation of modern man.
She has 11 solos and over 60 international shows to her credit. She has showcased her works in many international art events including Oxford International Art Fair, Barcelona Art Fair, Art Shopping, Art Expo New York, Izmir Biennale, and Effetto Biennale.
