Labour killed at Ctg shipyard

A labour allegedly fell down from a ship and died during work at Chittagong shipyard.

The deceased was identified as Enamul Haque, 32, from Mymensingh, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting police and authorities.

The victim said to have hit his head after impact – falling off from the roof of a ship at Ferdous Steel Corporation of Bhatiyari in Sitakunda – around 9:30am, police said.

Enamul was whisked off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 10:00, said Md Shahidullah, additional superintendent of police in Chittagong north zone.

Md Zakir Hossen, deputy inspector general (Chittagong zone) of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE), also confirmed the death.

"Inspectors have been sent on the spot to investigate the matter," he said.
