Big gunpowder cache seized in Chapainawabganj

Border Guard Bangladesh cracked down on a smuggling operation and seized 8.5kg of gunpowder from Shibganj frontier of Chapainawabganj early today.

The gunpowder was being smuggled in from India, our local correspondent reports quoting Maj Minnat Ali, operation officer of BGB-9 battalion in the district.

“Border troopers followed two people along the Shibganj frontier because of their suspicious movement and challenged them,” he said. “However, they managed to flee to India leaving behind the gunpowder.”
