Hotline for info on trafficking victims
Families, who are victims of human trafficking, can from now on check more conveniently whether their dear ones have ended up in Malaysia, Indonesia or Thailand.
Migrant rights workers today launched hotline numbers in Bangladesh and Malaysia to facilitate the passage of information of the rescued trafficking victims to the aggrieved families.
The hotline numbers in Bangladesh include 8801984-766346, +8801984-766347 and +8801984-766348. The numbers in Malaysia are +60169410952 and +60143239146.
Malaysia-based CARAM Asia, a non-government organisation network working on migrant rights, launched the hotline numbers today, said a press release.
"Those who are missing their relatives either in the sea or whose relatives have been rescued in Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia, died or remained jailed in these countries are requested to contact in these contacts immediately," CARAM Asia Bhd Regional Coordinator Mohammad Harun Al Rashid said.
Alternatively, the relatives can also contact via emails to harun@caramasia.org or missingmigrant@gmail.com or at facebook/BhalobashiBangladesh, the press release read.
Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), BRAC, Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Programme (OKUP) in Bangladesh and CARAM Asia in Kuala Lumpur will work together to provide assistance based on need.
