Biman earns record revenue of Tk 1,563cr in 3 months

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has earned a record Tk 1,563cr revenue and carried around 8.8 lakh passengers in the last three months.

Biman Managing Director and CEO Zahid Hossain came up with the announcement today (October 13, 2022) at a press conference at Biman's headquarters in Dhaka's Uttara.

"If this situation continues, at least 32 lakh passengers can be transported the next year," the Biman boss also said.

Ground handling services have also improved as expected and all luggage of passengers have been delivered within a maximum of 45 minutes, he added.

He also said the biggest challenge of Biman is ensuring quality passenger services. "For this, the time limit for ground handling of the aircraft has been further reduced. Now the first luggage of a flight is given within 18 minutes and the last luggage is given within a maximum of 45 minutes. This has been achieved due to extensive monitoring, supervision and change in management."

Mentioning that he remained present at the airport four days a week to supervise the overall activities of the ground handling services, Zahid Hossain said, there are various discussions and criticisms about Biman. But the reality is that Biman is a four-billion-dollar company.

"Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the only organisation recognised by IATA. A recent audit conducted by European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) did not give any (negative) observations about Biman. It is definitely a big achievement. Aircraft safety audits are conducted by internationally recognized organizations. Biman is the only company in the country from that point of view," Biman CEO also said.
