Biman's quality of service almost same as before, chairman says
Biman's quality of service remains almost the same as before, chairman, Board of Directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Sajjadul Hassan said last evening.
He also said many say that Biman board is a high-power body having big figures like finance secretary and secretary to the prime minister's office.
"But the fact is that the Biman board cannot perform in line with its potential. Can the board members demonstrate their performance according to their potentials?" -- he questioned while speaking at a discussion and unveiling logo of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to mark the golden jubilee of Bangladesh at Biman's head office in Dhaka's Kurmitola.
He said we need to question to ourselves whether we are able to take Biman to that stage in the last 50 years where it should stand.
"Those working in Biman should consider what we wanted and where we are now," he said.
The Biman board chairman requested the Biman Managing Director and CEO Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal to look into this matter.
Coming down heavily on those responsible for recent disruption in flight schedules of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Sajjadul Hassan said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed to identify those responsible for the sufferings of passengers due to continuous delay in flight schedule.
"Fault of one or two persons cannot put the image of the national airliner into question. I will request the Biman MD to identify those responsible for the disruption in flight schedules of Biman," he also said.
Later talking on this issue, State Minister for Civil Aviation M Mahbub Ali warned that everyone responsible for affecting the service provided to passengers will have to face stern action.
"If the quality of service goes down or if passengers are subjected to sufferings or flight schedule is delayed due to any individual's personal reason, he/she will have to face strict punishment," the state minister warned.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mokammel Hossain, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Biman MD and CEO Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, also spoke at the programme.
