The Bangladeshi students included freshmen enrolled in different universities in Hong Kong and those already studying there. The flight BG-078 departed from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Hong Kong at 2:15pm (local time).

The flight is scheduled to land at the Hong Kong International Airport at 7:45pm (Hong Kong local time), the national flag carrier said in a press release.

On its way back, the flight will bring back Bangladeshi nationals who were stranded in Hong Kong for various reasons, including the Covid-19 pandemic.

Another chartered flight of the national airliner, BG-5011, left HSIA at 2:37pm for the Jordanian capital Amman with migrant workers who were stranded in Bangladesh.

The flight is scheduled to land in Amman at 6:27pm (Jordan local time).

It is to be noted that Biman Bangladesh Airlines is operating various emergency service flights to carry Bangladeshi nationals stranded at home and abroad to their desired destinations following the outbreak of the pandemic.

Biman also operated several special flights to transport vaccines at an affordable cost to the country, it said in the release.
