Strict lockdown: International flights will operate, domestic flights suspended
International flights to and from Dhaka will operate as usual, but flights on all seven local routes will be suspended during the weeklong strict lockdown beginning tomorrow.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard today.
According to the notification, international flights will continue and outbound travelers will be permitted to travel by car; they must show tickets.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh made the recommendation to the government to continue operation of international flights so that outbound migrant workers can reach their workplaces abroad.
Bangladesh's national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has cancelled flights on all domestic routes in the next one week but will operate a small number of flights from Dhaka to Chittagong, Sylhet and Cox's Bazar for international transit passengers.
Only passengers with international airline tickets will be able to travel on these flights, Biman said in a release.
All passengers with tickets for cancelled flights between July 1 to 7 will have the opportunity to travel later (subject to vacancies) without paying any additional charges on this ticket.
