Bangladeshi businessman shot dead in broad daylight in Philippines

A Bangladeshi businessman was reportedly shot dead in broad daylight by an unidentified gunman in Manila, capital of the Philippines yesterday (May 5, 2022).

The deceased is Anwar Hossain (63), son of Tofazzal Hossain from Munshiganj district, reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting the victim's brother Nasir Hossain.

Anwar was president of Bangladesh Garment Traders Association in Philippines.

Anwar was shot dead on Taft Avenue in Manila, at local time 8:40pm on Thursday (May 5, 2022), said Nasir.

Anwar has been involved in garment business in Philippines for the last 26 years.

Nasir said that efforts are underway to bring Anwar's body back to the country.

Following the incident, locals caught the gunman and handed him over to police, Nasir said.

Family members alleged that Bangladeshis living in the Philippines had killed Anwar over some dispute.
