A five-year-old boy in Limavady of Northern Ireland has found an unexpected surprise inside his Kinder egg: white powder methamphetamine, police said.

The boy was playing with his 8-year-old brother when he opened the yellow plastic shell of the egg and found the powder inside a bag, instead of a toy, reports Mashable.

The boy immediately handed the bag to his father who later alerted police.

"The contents of the bag, which was found inside a toy egg, is believed to be meth amphetamine. This small quantity of drugs will be disposed of by police," Inspector Colin Shaw said.

"This incident is of the uppermost concern for all of us. Tackling the use and supply of illegal drugs is a priority for us and the possibility that something so potentially dangerous has been discarded where children could find it is deeply concerning," he added.

Local councillor Alan Robinson said it was lucky the child did not swallow the contents of the egg.

"By the grace of God the item was passed to the children's father who alerted the police," he said.

"As a father of a child, I know how enticing Kinder eggs and their contents are to children."

"In this instance the children are to be commended for passing the contents to their parents," the councillor added.
