Mother threatens to disown daughter over her cosmetic surgery addiction
A Chinese woman's obsession to look like an actress makes her mother go on TV to threaten to disown her.
Yu Ning, 29, claims to have spent 800,000 yuan ($ 123,000) on 20 cosmetic surgery procedures in just two years, reports Mashable quoting Chinese media.
Yu's constantly-changing appearance distressed her 61-year-old mother so much that she agreed to appear on the Thursday episode of popular Chinese talkshow "Four to help" aired by Dragon TV.
Yu's mother was in tears during an emotional confrontation with her daughter when she told the program host and live audience how she barely recognizes her daughter now.
She also said their relatives are starting to compare Yu's looks to a "monster".
"Every time I see her, she looks different," she said, adding "I can hardly recognise her even though I'm her mother."
The situation has apparently gotten so drastic that she even threatened Yu to disown her, if she did not put a stop to her obsession for cosmetic surgery procedures.
Yu, who runs a clothing business in China, confessed that she aspired to look like actress Fan Bingbing, who is considered one of the most beautiful Chinese woman in showbiz now.
Yu also said she began going under the knife in China, but has since moved onto surgeons in Seoul, known as a Mecca for cosmetic surgery, to continue to change her looks.
Listening to her mother's comments, Yu said she was heartbroken, but she still remains undeterred in her cosmetic surgery plans.
"My new plan this year is to have a height-lengthening surgery," she told the talkshow host.
The surgery procedure would require a lengthy healing period as it would require a surgeon to break her shin bone to insert implants.
Yu's mother broke down into a fresh flood of tears at her daughter's insistence, but Yu continued to smile throughout, which she blamed on her inability to control her facial expressions due to a recent surgery she had undergone to curl her lips upwards.
