Oishee, 2 of her friends indicted
A Dhaka court yesterday framed charges against Oishee Rahman and her two friends in connection with the killing of her parents in August last year.
Scrutinising the case diary and other relevant documents, Judge Md Jahurul Haque of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, Dhaka passed the indictment order and fixed June 5 to begin the trial proceedings.
Oishee, 19, and two others, Asaduzzaman Johnny, 27, and Mizanur Rahman Roni, 25, now in custody, claimed themselves innocent and demanded justice after the charges were read out to them.
According to the charge sheets submitted by the Detective Branch of police on March 9, Oishee alone killed her parents while Johnny instigated the murders and Roni gave her shelter after the incident.
The case against the domestic help, 11-year-old Khadiza Akter Sumi, who had been charged with helping Oishee hide the bodies, was transferred to a juvenile court, First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka.
The government has recently formed a juvenile court in each district to try the charges brought against juveniles.
The bodies of Mahfuzur Rahman, an inspector of the Special Branch of Police, and his wife Swapna Rahman were found at their Chamelibagh residence in the capital on August 16 last year.
Oishee, who had taken her O-level exams, surrendered to Paltan police the following day. She was later remanded.
In a confessional statement before a magistrate on August 24 last year, she said she alone had killed her parents and Sumi helped her hide the bodies. Sumi also admitted to helping Oishee.
DB Inspector Abul Khair Matubbar, the investigation officer of the case, submitted two charge sheets -- one against Oishee, Johnny and Roni and another against Sumi -- before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in March this year.
A separate charge sheet was submitted against Sumi because she is under 18 and that her trial will be held in a juvenile court.
