40 trucks adulterated cosmetics seized in Dhaka

Customs Intelligence today unearthed a factory of fake cosmetics at Demra in Dhaka and seized a total of 40 adulterated cosmetics-laden trucks.

None was arrested in this regard.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of customs intelligence, Rab-10 and VAT officials made the seizure at a factory owned by Moonstar Ltd.

The owner failed to produce valid tax documents of import.

The workers were also refilling containers and bottles of world renowned body spray, perfume and gel with local and low grade chemicals to cheat customers, said Umme Nahida Akhter, assistant director of Customs Intelligence.

It is violation of import policy and harmful to public health, she added.
