Biman employee held over gold smuggling
Customs Intelligence today arrested an employee of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in connection with a gold smuggling case.
Imran, an aircrafts mechanic of Biman, was arrested at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this afternoon, said Mustafizur Rahman, deputy director of Customs Intelligence.
The case was filed after a recovery of around 14 kg gold from a flight of Biman on January 14.
Earlier today, customs intelligence seized eight gold bars weighing 932 grams worth around Tk 50 lakh at the airport.
