Miscreants torched a bus on Mugda Biswa Road in Dhaka this morning, on the fifth day of the BNP-led 20-party alliance's hartal.

The bus of Turag Paribahan was set afire around 7:00am when it was parked on the road, said Enayet Hossain, acting in-charge of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire, the official said.

None were hurt in the incident, Shafiqul Islam, sub-inspector of Mugda Police Station, said adding that the arsonists could not be held.

Apart from this, no unexpected incident was reported from anywhere across the country till 11:00am when the report was filed.

The 18-party opposition alliance called the hartal from Sunday morning, which will continue till 6:00am Friday, to meet its prime demand of a non-party polls-time government; for killing opposition leaders and activists in the name of crossfire and for filing false cases against alliance leaders.
