Mindless arson burns 2 in Savar
At least two passengers were injured as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a long-route bus in Savar on the outskirts of the capital early today.
The injured are Abdur Rahim, 50, and Akkas Ali, 70, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Mohammad Motaleb Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Savar Police Station adding that the injured were receiving treatment at Enam Medical College Hospital.
The firebomb attack took place around 2:00am on a Dhaka-bound bus of Rajanigandha Paribahan on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Genda area said the OC.
He further said that firefighters rushed to the spot upon receiving information and put out the blaze.
The attack came after the concerned authorities resumed long-route buses on highways from last night after being suspended for almost a month.
Night-time services of long-route buses resumed yesterday after remaining suspended from February 9, amid fears of arson attacks and violence in the ongoing countrywide blockade sponsored by the BNP-led 20-party alliance from January 6.
