Prisoner escapes from DMCH
A prisoner, who was receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for over a month, escaped from the hospital this afternoon.
Rezaul Karim has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for breaching discipline of Bangladesh Air Force, said officials in the Dhaka Central Jail.
The sacked air force man was taken to the DMCH on February 9 due to his acute back pain and kidney ailments.
He had been receiving treatment at the hospital's ward No. 701. He fled away from the hospital dodging two prison guards sometime between 1:00pm and 2:00pm, said Neasar Alam, a jailer at the prison.
The prison guards -- Zafar Alam and Khitish Chandra Mallick -- were suspended due to their negligence in duties, he said adding that they would face more departmental actions.
A case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
