Newly appointed US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat made the assurance during her first meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the latter's parliament office.
"We are committed to help you protect and continue democracy in the country," AKM Shamim Chowdhury, prime minister's press secretary, quoted the US envoy as saying.
Bernicat told the premier that they truly value Bangladesh's democracy. "We want to see continuation of democracy in the country," she was also quoted by the press secretary.
The US ambassador also assured of her government's help in fulfilling the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the country.
