Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, world leader in fitness trackers, has presented the new generation of its Mi Band smart bracelet. Now boasting a colour screen, it's expected to arrive in Europe in the summer of 2019.

The first thing that's noticeable about the new Mi Band 4 is its 0.96in AMOLED screen (120x240 pixels), which is not only 40% larger than the last version, it's also in colour and customisable. The bracelet is also waterproof to 164 feet (49.99m), meaning it can be used as a swim tracker. Beyond physical exercise, the Mi Band 4 can register heartbeat 24 hours a day and analyse sleep quality. It offers up to 20 days' battery life. Chinese users can take advantage of Xiaomi's voice assistant to control connected home devices via their bracelet.

This bracelet is also available in a slightly more expensive NFC (touch-free) version, which can be used for payments via Alipay in China.

The Mi Band 4 is already available to order in China for 169 yuan (RM101.79) and 229 yuan (RM137.93) with an NFC chip.

In Europe the wearable will be branded as the Mi Smart Band 4 and will be available from June 26 for €35 (RM164.74).

According to industry analyst IDC, Xiaomi is the world leader by sales in the connected watch and bracelet sector, with 5.3 million units sold in the first quarter of 2019, while 4.6 million Apple Watches were sold in the same period. Huawei ranks third with 3.9 million units sold.
