Shadab spins Pakistan to victory
Pakistan won the second of a four-match T20 International series against West Indies by three runs at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on Thursday as pace bowler Hasan Ali held his nerve after conceding successive boundaries in the final over.
Sunil Narine hit the first two deliveries for four as West Indies, who went into the final over needing 14 runs, sniffed a victory. It came down to five runs off three deliveries after a dot and a wide down the leg side.
But the young pace bowler gave only two runs in his next three deliveries to seal a nervy win. Pakistan are now leading the four-match series 2-0.
Earlier, West Indies captain Carlos Brathwaite won the toss and put Pakistan in to bat. They restricted Pakistan at 132 runs but only to be baffled by young leg spinner Shadab Khan, who followed up his first-match heroics with yet another astonishing figure of 4-14 in his mesmerizing four overs.
The match also witnessed a nasty collision, forcing Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad to leave the field on a stretcher after suffering a neck injury while fielding. He however returned to the field after receiving treatment.
"Initially, [Shehzad] showed concussion signs and pain within the neck," Shane Hayes, Pakistan Team Physiotherapist, told ESPNcricinfo.
The injured player was "removed from play and sent to hospital for further investigations" via an ambulance, Hayes added.
Shehzad had collided with Marlon Samuel as the West Indies cricketer tried to score a single at Sohail Tanvir's last ball during the fourth over in the second innings with West Indies having made 20 runs at the loss of one wicket.
