People’s lives, livelihoods ignored in budget: says Amir Khashru
BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said that people's lives and livelihoods had been ignored in the proposed national budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
"The megaprojects have been given major allocation in the proposed national budget on a priority basis. I think people's lives and livelihoods have been ignored in this context," Khashru said in his instant reaction on the budget.
Priority should have been given to the country's health and social security sectors, the BNP leader said.
Giving majority of the allocation to the megaprojects means the continuation of the trend of corruption in the country, Khashru, also a former commerce minister, said.
The GDP growth and revenue earning targets set in the proposed budget is nothing but deceiving the people of the country, the BNP leader said in his reaction.
Meanwhile, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staffer of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's media wing, said the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will give a formal reaction on the national budget from his Uttara residence around 4:00pm tomorrow.
