'12 sub-committees formed for AL council'
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the party has formed 12 sub-committees for holding its next national council.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, made the announcement while talking to reporters after a meeting of party’s presidium members at party chief Sheikh Hasina's political office at Dhanmondi.
Awami League’s 21st national council will be held on December 20 and 21 to elect the party’s next leadership. AL took the decision at a meeting of the party’s central working committee at Gono Bhaban, the official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on September 14.
The council will be inaugurated in Dhaka's historic Suhrawardy Udyan around 3:00pm on December 20 and its session will continue till December 21, Quader said today.
The preparation of the national council will begin on Saturday through extended meeting in districts and division across the country, he said.
