30 Workers Party aspirants submit nominations
Thirty aspirants of Workers Party including the party President Rashed Khan Menon today submitted their nomination papers to the returning officers.
Menon submitted his nomination paper to Returning Officer and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner KM Ali Azam this morning, Anisur Rahman Mallik, a top leader of the party, told The Daily Star.
Two other aspirants will submit their nomination papers tomorrow, he added.
Workers Party, a partner of the AL-led grand alliance, has got a total of 34 seats from the alliance to run the elections.
11TH JS ELECTION SCHEDULE
Election Commission has revised polls schedule, deferring the 11th general election by a week to December 30.
The authorities have fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9 last date for nomination withdrawal.
The first schedule for the parliamentary election was December 23. Later, the commission reschedule the election on December 30 following demands from several opposition political parties.
