5 injured in Dhaka crude bomb blasts
At least five people, including two policemen, were injured in separate crude bomb blasts in Dhaka today.
In Azimpur, several crude bombs exploded in front of the Eden College around 7:30pm, injuring two police constables.
Two other people suffered splinter injuries when crude bombs went off at Shyampur and Nayabazar at 6:30pm and 7:30pm respectively.
All the injured were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said sources at Lalbagh Police Station and DMCH Police Camp.
The injured policemen -- Abdul Mannan and Zakir Hossain -- were later shifted to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital.
In Mugda, Babu, 24, an employee of a scrap metal shop, suffered injuries when a crude bomb exploded in the shop this afternoon.
“The explosion took place around 4:00pm when the victim was unloading scrap goods from a sack,” said Omar Faruq, officer-in-charge of Mugda Police Station.
“The sack of goods has been brought into the shop by a group of youth from Kadamtola area in Jhilpar of the capital,” he added.
The victim was rushed to the DMCH. His left wrist has been seriously injured in the incident, the police officer added.
