A Dhaka court today sent BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas to jail after his surrender before it in connection with two violence cases.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman passed the order after Abbas surrendered before it seeking bail in the cases filed for damaging and torching vehicles.

The cases were filed with Paltan and Motijheel police respectively in December 2014 and January last year.

Abbas also surrendered before the Special Judge Court-4 today in another case filed for corruption. The court is expected to hear the case later in the day.
