Attorney General Mahbubey Alam urged the chief justice to take action against the pro-BNP lawyers who made chaos in the courtroom forcing the Appellate Division judges to leave the room.

The pro-BNP lawyers made the chaos in the courtroom in an unprecedented manner in order to create an “illegal pressure” on the SC as the apex court had adjourned the hearing on an appeal filed by the party chairperson Khaleda in a corruption case, the attorney general said.

He said this at a briefing organised by Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad at the north hall of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) after the all the six judges of the Appellate Division left the courtroom amid chaos by the pro-BNP lawyers.

The apex court had adjourned the hearing on an appeal filed by Khaleda challenging the High Court verdict that rejected her bail petition in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case as the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University needs one week more to prepare her medical report.

“The Pro BNP lawyers made contemptuous situation at the courtroom,” the attorney general also said.

Outsiders made the chaos: SCBA president

On the other hand, SCBA President Advocate AM Aminuddin said “a group of outsiders” made the unprecedented situation in the court room as they do not believe in rule of law and the judiciary.

“In my life of legal profession, I have never seen such a situation in the court room,” he said.

He also urged the BNP lawyers to oust the outsiders from the court premises and to keep faith on the court.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, member secretary of Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad strongly condemned the act by the pro BNP lawyers.

He said the BNP lawyers have made the chaos in order to make the judiciary dysfunctional.

If the lawyers do not leave the court room, they will be given appropriate reply, he also said.
