AL, BNP to discuss Bangladesh situation at UK House of Lords
Two high-profile delegations from the ruling Awami League and BNP are going to attend a seminar organised by UK House of Lords over Bangladesh’s prevailing political and human rights situation on July 19.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir with a four-member team today left Dhaka to attend the seminar, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
Khaleda’s advisers Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Sabihuddin Ahmed and Nitai Roy Chowdhury and a pro-BNP lawyer Rumin Farhan accompanied Fakhrul.
On the other hand, a five-member team of the ruling Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s political affairs adviser HT Imam is expected to attend the seminar, Awami League sources said.
The issues like the country’s prevailing political situation, militancy and terrorism, crossfire, human rights, media freedom among others will be discussed in the seminar.
