Appeal hearing against 4 BNP leaders’ bail Jul 27
The Supreme Court today set July 27 to hear appeals filed by the government against bail orders of four BNP leaders in separate violence cases.
A total of 56 appeals have been moved against the High Court bails of MK Anwar, Tariqul Islam, Abdul Awal Mintoo and Amanullah Aman.
Chamber judge of the apex court's Appellate Division Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain sent the appeal to the full bench after a brief hearing and fixed July 27 for hearing those appeals.
On July 9, High Court granted anticipatory bail for four weeks to the BNP leaders in the 56 cases. MK Anwar got bail in nine cases, Tariqul Islam in four cases, Abdul Awal Mintoo in one case and Amanullah Aman obtained bail in 42 cases.
The cases were filed with different police stations in Dhaka and elsewhere during the hartal and blockades enforced by BNP-led 20 party alliance after January 5 this year.
Additional Attorney General Murad Reza argued for the government while AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Sagir Hossain Leon and AKM Ehsanur Rahman appeared for the BNP leaders.
