Ashraf skips cabinet meeting
Removed as LGRD minister and deputed as a minister without portfolio last week, Syed Ashraful Islam today skipped the regular cabinet meeting.
Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said Ashraf did not attend cabinet meeting that took place in the Prime Minister’s Office.
“Try to understand,” he said when reporters asked him whether the former LGRD minister was invited to the meeting. “It is unclear whether he will participate in the next meeting.”
The cabinet secretary was speaking to reporters at the Secretariat after the meeting.
Last Thursday, Ashraf made minister without portfolio after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina removed him from the Local Government and Rural Development ministry.
After his removal, Ashraf is reportedly spending most of the times at his official residence on Baily Road and meeting with family members and well-wishers.
He is expected to leave Dhaka on July 15 for London to celebrate Eid with his family members and he will return home on August 1.
