‘AL MP Nizam Hazari behind Khaleda motorcade attack’

A local Awami League leader today accused his party’s lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari of masterminding the attack on the convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Feni last month.

Terming the attack “planned”, Azharul Haque Arzu, member of Feni district unit Awami League, said Nizam Hazari played a key role behind the attack.

He was addressing a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

Vehicles of different media outlets including DBC, Channel i, Ekattor and Boishakhi TV were targeted selectively by the cadres of Nizam Hazari that day to take revenge for the news reports against him, Arzu said while reading out a written statement.

He also alleged that people of Hindu community are also threatened by Nizam Hazari, also the general secretary of AL district unit.

The convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, heading towards Cox's Bazar for her visit to Rohingya refugee camps, came under attack at Mohammad Ali Bazar near Feni district town on October 28.

At least 45 people were injured and some 30 vehicles damaged in the incident.
