Rohingya refugees being treated on humanitarian ground: Quader
Amid a mass exodus of Rohingya people to Bangladesh, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the government is treating Rohingya refugees on humanitarian ground.
Terming Rohingya refugees as a burden of the country, Quader said the government is undertaking diplomatic efforts to stop the influx of Rohingyas into Bangladesh.
“We are considering the Rohingya crisis on the humanitarian ground. We are undertaking diplomatic efforts to stop the pushing-in Rohingyas to Bangladesh,” Quader told reporters after visiting ailing Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddique at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University this noon.
He said a terrible situation has already been created on bordering area over the Rohingya issue and it is not possible for the government to cope up with the influx of the Rohingya refugees.
He said the government is talking with international organisations including UN Human Rights Council to put an end to the crisis.
Besides, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim blamed the Myanmar for carrying out inhuman killing spree on Rohingyas in a bid to eliminate them from the state and said it is totally unacceptable.
Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi is a Nobel laureate in peace and she should take back the Rohingya refugees after solving her country’s internal crisis immediately.
The Awami League leader also called upon the United Nations to come forward to ensure a peaceful end to the Rohingya refugees crisis.
Nasim was also talking to reporters at the BSMMU after inquiring the health condition of Kader Siddique.
