Noufel apologises to EC for violating poll code

Awami League’s Dhaka unit leader Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Noufel today apologised to the Election Commission for violating election code in Gazipur City Corporation.

He met Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda at his Agargaon office this afternoon and offered his sincere apologies, saying he was unaware of the violation.

Organising secretary of Awami League for Dhaka division, Noufel defied a ban on outsiders in Gazipur city, two days ahead of city corporation election, and campaigned for his party’s candidate yesterday. He did not waste time to apologise after he learned of the violation.

A team of the ruling Awami League, led by prime minister's Political Advisor HT Imam met the CEC and talked about the electoral atmosphere in Gazipur; and Noufel was in the delegation.

Regarding Noufel’s violation, Imam said: "A mistake has been done yesterday without knowing. Noufel told the chief election commissioner about the matter and he made apology."
