AL’s remarks on SC verdict contemptuous: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that the ruling Awami League is furious after release of the full verdict that declared the 16th amendment to the constitution illegal.
“Their (AL leaders) remarks are blatant, indecent and tantamount to contempt of court,” Fakhrul said while addressing a function at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this afternoon.
Referring to Food Minister Qamrul Islam’s yesterday’s demand for resignation of the chief justice, Fakhrul said “the truth has come out through scrapping the 16th amendment”.
Calling up on Qamrul to see his own face in a mirror, Fakhrul said: “You have destroyed the country’s democracy and people’s norms by establishing a monstrous rule.”
He also slammed Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader as he blamed BNP for seeking a scope to grab the state power through back door. Fakhrul said the ruling quarter is planning to stage a farcical election like of the one of January 5, 2014.
