Quader signals major remoulding of Chhatra League
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that his party is thinking about restructuring the framework of its Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), for the interest of quality leadership.
"We are thinking about Chhatra League anew ahead of its national council. Our leader Sheikh Haisna has instructed us to turn over a new leaf with the Chhatra League. It will be a new model in terms of creating quality leadership. Just wait and see," Quader said responding to a query.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remarks at a time when a video clip of Chittagong City Chhatra League General Secretary Nurul Azim Rony assaulting a man inside a room for extortion has gone viral, exposing the levels of moral degradation within the ruling party’s student front.
The Awami League leader was addressing a programme organised by the party's publicity affairs sub-committee at the Institution of Engineers' Bangladesh in Dhaka this noon.
Responding to another query, Quader said: "Whoever it is, either Chhatra league or Awami League, our party stance is very clear, no one will be spared after committing misdeeds. Our leader Sheikh Hasina is also on rigid stance against such offence."
