Govt is rivaling with judiciary: BNP
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today alleged that the government has taken judiciary as its opponent after the release of the full verdict of the 16th amendment.
“It has become clear through the statements of the finance minister and health minister that the government has taken the judiciary as its opponent,” he said.
The BNP leader, while addressing a discussion of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, said that the observation that the court had given is the opinion of the people of the country.
“After the release of the full verdict, there was discussion in the cabinet meeting and the way the ministers have talked in the meeting, I do not know whether it is tantamount to contempt of court.”
Fakhrul alleged that the government has created a conflict between the three pillars of the state in a planned way. “You have seen that they created division between the judiciary and parliament.”
Urging the government to step down from the office immediately, the BNP leader demanded to hold acceptable election to all under a supportive government.
Terming the verdict as historic, Fakhrul said, “It is a historic document. Appellate division is called the guardian of the constitution. Appellate division gives opinion if there is any error or if the laws contradictory to the constitution.”
