Next election under Sheikh Hasina's government: Quader
Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the next general election will be held under the government of Sheikh Hasina.
The Minister said this at a brief meeting on Hajrabari High School premises at Melandaha upazila in Jamalpur before inaugurating three bridges here.
Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, said whenever Awami League comes in power, people enjoy democracy and economic emancipation.
“Students get new books free of cost on the first day of new year, they get stipend, women get pregnancy allowance, widows get widow allowance,” the minister added.
Young people and women are the main strength of Awami League, he said, urging the people to vote for the party again in the next general election to strengthen the hands of Sheikh Hasina.
State Minister for Textile and Jute, Mirza Azam Awami League Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, District Awami League President Advocate Mohammad Baki Billah and Secretary Faruk Ahammed Chowdhury were present on the occasion, among others.
The minister later inaugurated three bridges on the Jamalpur-Madarganj highway built at a cost of Taka 70.09 crore.
Later, the Minister joined the ‘chehlam’ of mother of Mirza Azam at the latter's Balizuri Bazar residence in Madarganj upazila.
