'Not a single dime spent for making Razakars' list'

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said that no money was allocated or no allocation was sought for making the list of Razakars.

"Therefore, there is no question of spending a dime (for it),"a press release issued by Ministry of Liberation War Affairs today quoted the minister as saying.

Referring to a news item titled '60 crores spent in making Razakar list' published on different media outlets recently, Mozammel Haque requested all not to publish and circulate such “false” news.

Legal measure will be taken against the authorities who published and circulated the news with this “information” if they do not withdraw the report and seek unconditional apology by December 25, 2019, the minister said.

The Liberation War affairs ministry yesterday suspended the controversial and flawed Razakars’ list three days after its publication.

The government on Sunday published the names of 10,789 Razakars, Al-Badrs, Al-Shams and anti-liberation elements who collaborated with the Pakistan occupation army in 1971.

Astonishingly, the names of a number of freedom fighters and pro-liberation people were found in the list.

In the face of nationwide outrage and angry protests, Mozammel said they just published the Razakars’ list provided by the home ministry without any modification.

On Tuesday, Mozammel and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan traded blame over preparation of the list.
