BNP apologises to women

BNP today apologised to the country’s women over the sexual assault on some women by rowdy men during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations on the Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University campuses.

“We express sorrow and seek pardon to the women as we can do nothing in regard to taking actions against the perpetrators because we are not in power,” Assaduzzaman Ripon, BNP’s international affairs secretary, said while talking to journalists at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters.
