Abrar was killed for criticising govt: BNP MP
Opposition BNP MP Rumeen Farhana in the parliament today said Buet student Abrar Fahad was killed just for criticising the government for its recent deal with India.
In her two-minute speech on call attention notice, the BNP lawmaker said at present no one is allowed to talk if it goes against the government.
The ruling party justified murder through labelling someone as Jammat-Shibir activist before killing and that Abrar was the latest example of such killing even his family was involved in Awami League politics.
She said that an executive member of Khulna district unit Awami League was removed following his criticism against the memorandum of understanding signed between Bangladesh and India during PM’s India visit.
Talking about the murder of Abrar Fahad, Rumeen claimed that AL student front Chhatra League used to torture general students of Dhaka University in the name of raging.
There were 13 'torture cells' in DU which were being operated by BCL leaders and activist as they created an environment of fear on the campus, she said.
Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of Buet, was tortured to death by a group of BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall on October 7.
