BNP should hail govt for current drive: Quader

BNP should hail Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she started a purification drive in her own party, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.

“Sheikh Hasina is doing that Khaleda Zia couldn’t do and thus BNP should congratulate the government for the current purification drive,” Quader said this while talking to reporters at MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet this noon.

The criminal offences like tender manipulation, extortion and drug abuse have spread during BNP’s tenure, but they did never take any steps against their party men, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said.  

“BNP should not criticise the current drive only for the sake of criticism. We hope, they would practice constructive criticism,” the Awami League leader said.

Later, he attended a programme to commemorate Sylhet district unit former president of Awami League ANM Shafiqul Haque at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Rikabibazar area of the city this afternoon.
