BNP urges home minister for quick treatment of Khaleda
BNP has again urged the government to move immediately to ensure better treatment for Khaleda Zia, now facing five years imprisonment at Dhaka's old central jail with serious illness.
“Khaleda Zia is seriously ill. She even cannot walk. Her better treatment and proper health checkup is needed immediately," BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan said after holding a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan this afternoon.
Talking to reporters after emerging from the meeting, the BNP leader said: "We requested the home minister and he showed a positive gesture in this regard."
Responding to a query, Khan said sending Khaleda Zia abroad for her better treatment is “out of the question".
The home minister has met inspector general of prisons and discussed the matter sincerely, he said. "Now, we are waiting for the authorities move. We hope, Khaleda Zia will be taken to the United Hospital for better treatment."
BNP Vice Chairman Hafizuddin Ahmed was accompanying Khan during the meeting.
