Ctg candidates cast ballots

AJM Nasir Uddin and M Manjur Alam, mayoral candidates for Chittagong City Corporation backed by Awami League and BNP respectively, cast their votes this morning.

Nasir cast his ballot at Chittagong Municipal Model School and College around 9:00am.

BNP-blessed candidate Manjur Alam casts his votes at the Haji Daud Primary School in the port city.

Meanwhile, voting was halted for half an hour at the Patenga Board Government Primary School as a group of youths created chaos inside the polling centre.

The group forced their way into polling center and tried to rig the votes, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting the presiding officer Ashique Elihi.

“We stopped them and drove them out of the center, halting votes from 10:00am-10:30am,” added the officer. Voting resumed soon afterwards.
