Death of Dhaka BCL leader: 3 Rab officials sued
Family of a Bangladesh Chhatra League leader of Dhaka’s Hazaribagh unit, who was killed during an alleged gunfight, has sued three officials of elite force Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
Masud Rana, elder brother of Hazaribagh BCL unit president Arzu Miah, filed the case with Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka this morning.
Arzu, 28, was killed in what the elite force termed as gunfight in the capital’s Hazaribagh on Tuesday, a day after he allegedly beat dead a 16-year-old boy in the area.
The lawsuit named four accused including Masud Rana, commanding officer of Rab; Shahidur Rahman, a deputy assistant director; and Wahid, an inspector of the force, for murder.
The other named accused is Ratan, who has been mentioned as a local source of Rab.
There are three or four unnamed accused.
The victim’s brother alleged that the Rab men abducted his younger brother.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan will pass an order on August 25 whether the murder charges brought against the Rab officials will be taken into consideration.
