A motorcade of Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, deputy leader of the Jatiya Sangsad, came under attack on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur this afternoon, police said.

Sajeda, however, remains unhurt, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nagarkanda Police Station ASM Nasim, who sustained minor injuries in the attack.

The OC said a group of activists of the local Awami League started throwing brick chips at the motorcade when it was crossing through Talma area around 2:30 pm, leaving him injured.

He was rushed to Nagarkanda upazila health complex, reports our local correspondent.

There had been a “feud” between Alamgir Fakir, a follower of Sajeda Chowdhury, and Jamal Hossain, Awami League’s nomination aspirant from Faridpur-2, local Awami League source said.

Police also fired several blank shots to bring the situation under control, the OC added.
