Amid the ongoing drive against casino and other illegal business, BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed today called upon the government to disclose the wealth statements of cabinet members and lawmakers before the nation.

“We want to see the wealth statements of cabinet members and lawmakers. The account of wealth will have to be given to us,” Moudud said while addressing a human chain in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.

“Apart from this, we also want to know how much properties were under their possession before and how much it has increased now,” Moudud, also a standing committee member of BNP, said.

“If they don’t comply with the call then we can bring corruption allegation against all ministers and lawmakers of the current parliament,” the former law minister said.

The government efforts to uproot corruption will meet the fag end unless sacked Chhatra League president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani, and Jubo League leader Ismail Chowdhury Samrat are arrested, he said.

Jatiyatabadi Sechhasebak Dal, the voluntary wing of BNP, organised the programme demanding immediate release of party’s imprisoned Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Meanwhile, at a separate programme, BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain urged the government to identify people in the administration who extended support to run the casino business.

“Such type of immoral activities can’t be run without help of the administration. Disclose their identities,” Mosharraf made the demand while addressing a programme at the National Press Club organised marking the third death anniversary of BNP’s late leader ASM Hannan Shah.

Claiming that the purification drive will not be successful by conducting crackdown at the lower level, Mosharraf said the drive will have to be conducted from the upper level if the government want to see it as effective.
