The Election Commission (EC) is satisfied with the overall situation in Gazipur ahead of the Gazipur City Corporation polls, a delegation of Awami League said today.

The head of the AL delegation to EC and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Political Advisor HT Imam told this to reporters after meeting with the Chief Election Commission (CEC).

"Very wonderful environment is prevailing in Gazipur ahead of the polls. There are no fears regarding voting. No incidents of violence and disorder," HT Imam said.

He also said that the prime minister's message at an extended meeting of AL in regard to neutral elections has inspired the election commission.

"No leader in the world currently in power has ever said such a thing," he added.

Awami League is trying to hold free, neutral and acceptable elections, he further said.

Claiming that BNP is trying to make the EC into a controversial one, he said, "The EC is doing whatever is necessary for holding a fair polls, but BNP is saying irresponsible things about EC."
