EC talks: Jagpa, Biplobi Workers Party for army deployment
Bangladesher Biplobi Workers Party and Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa) today urged the Election Commission to deploy army during the next parliamentary election.
During separate meeting with the EC, they also urged the commission to ensure a level-playing field ahead of the national polls.
“We demanded army deployment during the next general elections and urged the election commission to ensure a level-playing field before the election,” Secretary General of Bangladesher Biplobi Workers Party Saiful Haque said after holding a meeting with the EC members at the EC secretariat.
A 13-member delegation of the party led by its Secretary General Saiful Haque placed a 23-point proposal to the EC members.
“We also underscored to the EC to set a process to submit nomination papers through online,” he added.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda headed the EC team during the meeting.
Meanwhile, another 13-member delegation of Jagpa led by its acting president Rehana Pradhan held meeting the EC and presented a 13-point proposal.

After the meeting, Rehana Pradhan briefed reporters saying that her party has also proposed deployment of army with magistracy power.
They also spoke for creating a level-playing field for all political parties during the election, she said adding, “We have also proposed forming a non-partisan polls- time government.”
The EC began talks with the political parties on August 24 to hold a free, fair and inclusive election.
