Former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Emajuddin Ahmed today blamed politicians for the 1/11 political changeover.

“The 1/11 government is morally illegal, no matter who was behind it,” he said at a discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) auditorium in Dhaka.

Holding the politicians responsible for the changeover, he said: “I don’t know how people will interpret the 1/11 incident. But as a political scientist, I clearly want to say it was a military coup.”

“When a military coup takes place, only military officers are not involved; rather they are accompanied by many ambitious military officers and a large number of political leaders who create the plot centering the military officers,” he added.

He further said that a coup cannot take place until the politicians prepare the ground for it.

“We should not blame only Moinuddin. He did the coup keeping Fakhruddin in the front to ensure that the administration is with him,” Prof Emajuddin added.

He also noted that the problem would not be solved by expressing anger at the journalists of The Daily Star and the Prothom Alo.
